Coconut oil isn’t just for cooking, it is a great natural oil that has amazing beauty and skin benefits. Coconut oil is antibacterial and anti-fungal, plus it makes an excellent moisturizer. It has the ability to penetrate hair better than any other oil and is great if you are trying to live that “Long hair don’t care” mentality, as it provides protein and aids in regrowth!
We can list 100+ uses for coconut oil, but really don’t have that time. Instead, we decided to combine two of our favorite things, coffee and coconut oil, to make this amazing smelling body scrub. Word on the street is the caffeine in the scrub can help reduce cellulite, but we just love it because it helps smooth and firm our skin. Also, coconut oil and coffee are both rich in antioxidants, which are very beneficial for the skin, especially during these next few months.
- 1/2 Cup of ground organic coffee (We used Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Spice Blend…. ’tis the season to be basic)
- 1/2 cup of organic sugar
- 2 Tbsp of coconut oil (we used Spectrum. It can be found at many grocery stores in the same aisle as olive oil)
- 2 drops of vanilla (optional)
Melt coconut oil and allow it to cool. Mix all ingredients together and store in an airtight container or mason jar. Apply on damp or dry skin for 5-10 minutes before washing off. Use 1-2 times a week (or everyday if you like). This is good for as long as you keep sealed after use!
The coffee and sugar will exfoliate your skin and the coconut oil will leave your skin soft and moisturized.
